1989 Renault Super 5 1.7 Monaco with manual gearbox, full leather and 16,540 miles from new.

I bought this fantastic Super 5 a couple of years ago, since then anything that it needed has been done. I’d quite happily use it as a daily driver, and have done – amazing how much attention the car gets and how much fun it is!

Prior to my ownership I believe the car has been garaged most of its life. The body was and is rust free, and has had a good respray in its original colour. It’s had both front and rear subframes out to be remove surface corrosion (front subframe and suspension parts have been e-coated prior to paint) at which point anything else that was needed was changed – there’s a full record of receipts from all the parts that have been bought. When the engine was out, timing belt was changed, core plugs were replaced and a new clutch fitted. The difficult (dash out) job of heater matrix replacement has been done. Any original parts have been kept and will come with the car. All fluids have been replaced and the car stands on 4 new Uniroyal Rain Expert 3 tyres that have less than 300 miles on them. MOT’d until May 2026.

What does it need? In short, not very much at all. It could do with a better seat base on the rear driver side – a two minute job to replace once found. And some gold stripes on the side as it would have done originally.
